Gardening can be a useful, practical tool for shaping liveable cities, creating beautiful landscapes & growing food. But what does it do to build our individual and collective well-being? A heck of a lot! Drop into the Port Environment Centre on Sunday October 9th to chat with the fabulous folk from the Topsoil Garden Project about how the practice of gardening can be one of the greatest tools for supporting our mental health & wellbeing. From maintaining community and cultural practices, lessening stress and supporting our sense of connectedness to people and planet – the benefits are endless. The Topsoil Garden Project is a soon-to-be-established horticulture therapy garden in the Adelaide Hills founded by a team of talented folk: a business whizz, mental-health nurse, psychologist, gardener & publican. While the project is still in its early days, they're already making waves in the Adelaide Care Community. They're set on delivering community-based, nature-centric wellness services, supporting the needs of people experiencing mental ill-health and psychosocial disability. If you are keen to learn more about this project or get some inspiration for your own community activation, this is for you. While you're here, pick up some of our gardening resources to kickstart or reinvigorate your love for gardening. No garden space? Fear not! We’ll connect you with a nearby community garden. We’ll have interactive activities & a play space for kids. This is a FREE event. All welcome. Registration not required. Drop-ins are welcome on the day.
