The Myoga at Canberra City Farm no longer looks like the above photo! All of the tops have died off, which leads us to the second workshop. The purpose of this workshop is to dig up the Myoga root sections, separate them and replant them. The Myoga beds at CCF have never been dug up, and have just been left to their own devices, which has resulted in an overcrowded bed. If you love ginger, and gardening, this delicacy is for you! Unlike normal ginger, you do not eat the root, but rather the shoots and flowers. It is not highly productive and has a very limited harvest season of about 6 weeks post Christmas. For Canberra City Farm members, we are hoping to be able to give everyone a sample root to take home and grow. For non-members there would be a small charge.
