This session is for those who want a little pick-me-up throughout your day, to invigorate your body and put a spring in your step. Cult chef, restaurateur, author, curator and real food advocate Mike McEnearney will teach you how to create simple tonics using herbs and ingredients you most likely already have in your own kitchen, garden or balcony. This session will cover two tonics, including both their preparation and a recipe, so you can make them yourself at home. Mike will also introduce his own garden. Abundant with healing and medicinal plants, the Kitchen by Mike Physic Garden is a space dedicated to promoting well-being through education of the health benefits of food. Kitchen by Mike has always focused on fresh, seasonal food and in doing so has unconsciously endorsed and promoted healthy eating – preparing meals with produce that is local and with as little done to the ingredients as possible is paramount. The Physic Garden parallels this kitchen ethos of “less is more” and endeavors to promote food in its purest form as nature’s medicine. The garden is divided into 5 beds and is full of plants, herbs, fruit and vegetables arranged according to their traditional medicinal uses: - Musculoskeletal and Cardiology (e.g. ginger and tumeric) - Gastroenterology (e.g. dill and oregano) - Neurology (e.g. lemon verbena and German chamomile) - Ear Nose Throat (e.g. meyer lemon and lemongrass) - Dermatology (e.g. Italian parsley and nasturtium) Get excited for what promises to be a super inspirational and educational session!
